IT 410 Internet/Intranet Administration SYLLABUS Course Title: Internet/Intranet Administration Course No.: IT-410 Credit Hours: 4 Contact Hours: 6 Instructors: T. Kumar Tkumar@fre.devry.edu Course Description: This course introduces the student to Internet and Intranet configuration and connectivity. Topics include Internet protocols, such as TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, and FTP, connectivity options, server configuration, and e-mail design. (Prerequisite: IT-380) Course Meetings: The lecture course will be from 8:30 PM to 10:30 PM every Friday and 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon every Saturday of Session A (the first 7.5 weeks of the semester). Accelerated/Compressed Course Strategy: * Classroom Instruction Component Regular lectures are given to the students but only on the objectives that are to be covered in the classroom. The objectives that are designed for the students to learn on their own will not be covered in classroom lectures. Homework assignments are given on all of the objectives whether or not they are covered by lectures. * Laboratory Instruction Component Time may be allocated for laboratory work, laboratory time could be used by the instructor to help those students with problems and to review the demonstration of the completed laboratory assignments. The laboratory assignments are to be completed by the students independently. Course Objectives: Upon successful completion of this class, the student should be able to: * Install the Internet Information Server, and various Option Packs. * Understand various network protocols. * Configure the IIS and its services. * Configure e-mail service. * Use various website management and analysis tools.
